Time is often stated as one of the largest concerns when deciding whether to join the marching band. If this describes you, or if for any other reason you are unsure about joining the marching band, please read these four letters written by former LBJ Band students.
- Dr. Darrick Chang: Harvard Graduate & 1998 LBJ Band Graduate
- Lorna Min: 2013 LBJ Band Graduate & Honors Student
- Keivaun Waugh: 2014 LBJ Band Graduate
- Dr. John Powers: Harvard Medical School Professor & 1992 LBJ Band Graduate
The marching band is an integral part of the total band experience at LBJ and LASA high schools. Marching band members earn P.E. credit in the fall, and a fine arts credit in the spring.
Members of the award-winning Jaguar Marching Band are expected to be enrolled in a band class and to take an active part in all marching events. Special care is taken regarding students’ time and the weekly schedule for after-school practices during marching season.
Band students are very successful academically, and they love their marching band! Hard work is balanced with many happy times which help create a great high school experience.
